Route Overview
I set off in London in May 2008 and travelled through Central Europe before heading east to follow the Silk Route through Turkey, Iran, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan into China. The city of Kashgar, in China's western province Xinjang, marked the end of the Silk Route for me. I continued south via the infamous Karakorum Highway – the highest international road in the world, connecting China with Pakistan.
By end of October I entered India, and travelled through the Rajasthan & Uttar Pradesh provinces into Nepal. Crossing through Burma on a bike still isn't possible, so I had to fly the bike from Nepal to Thailand (Kathmandu to Bangkok). In order to avoid the rainy season in Indonesia and northern Australia, I took a detour into Laos and Cambodia, before I continued south through Malaysia into Indoonesia.
From East Timor, I shipped the bike into Darwin/Australia.
For 'Stage 2', I decided to continue into South America and the US/Canada to complete this 'round the world' motorcycle journey.

The map is interactive: you can move around, zoom in/out,... . I'm trying to update the map on a regular basis (depending on internet-availability).
